Bays Auto Featured

An Article from the Sunnyslope Journal…

It was just a matter of time before Bays Auto came to fruition. Troy Roberts, owner of Bays Auto, was always fascinated with cars, trucks, and engines in general. When he joined the US Army as an M1A1 tanker, he was really able to take his interests to another level. Troy recalls living on a tank for months on end, eating, sleeping, repairing, maintaining, training, etc. Being all in, all the time, and always with the utmost level of detail as his brothers in arms lives depended on it. This experience laid the foundation for the structure, discipline and commitment required for Troy to one day actualize Bays Auto.

On February 11, 2011, Bays Auto was established. It was created with the commitment of having an honest tight-knit crew who truly cared about serving their community. Troy knew the North Central Phoenix area as he attended Shadow Mountain High School, worked and lived in the area while attending ASU. When it came time to choose a location, he knew North Central Phoenix was the place to be. Troy’s first couple of years in business were challenging as quality was just not at the level that he envisioned. Unfortunately, he quickly learned that this was rampant throughout the auto repair industry. Remaining steadfast to his high standards and always maintaining his motto of Truth Builds Trust, Troy was determined to find quality personnel who were both skilled and cared about their work. After two years of searching he found a talented, honest and caring mechanic who in turn brought over another mechanic, and then another. From then on, this was the culture that Troy had envisioned and is now proud to call them all family.

In 2016, Troy had the opportunity to move just two doors north into the old car wash facility. After a year’s worth of extensive renovations, the facility now better serves customers, staff, and it beautified the neighborhood. This was truly a labor of love which could not have materialized without the help of Eve, Jim, Dad, Dean, Hassan, Darrell, and many others.

In 2019, Troy teamed with Kyle Hansen and added auto detailing to the services provided. Kyle is an expert detailer, paint correction and installer of ceramic car coatings. Kyle detailed for the big auto dealers for 10 years transforming trade-in vehicles to perfection and ready for sale. Now that we have over 300 vehicle transformations under our belt we are ready to take it to the next level. Our details are truly the best value in town.

As a way of giving back to the community, since inception, Bays Auto has donated $500 of free auto repair each quarter to veterans or families is need but for the holiday season, that has gone up as high as $2,000. This year, Bays helped the McCain family of five when the mother/school teacher was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. When Bays learned that Mr. McCain was making ends meet by being an Uber driver, Troy stepped in by providing them with $1,500 of labor and parts to ensure they could rely on their vehicle. Troy also donates to the Southwest Veterans Chamber of Commerce which in turn raises money for veteran scholarships as well as the Festival of Trees event, and bicycles for the Sunnyslope Ride Your Bike with a Cop event. Troy regularly attends the Sunnyslope neighborhood watch meetings to remain in touch with what is going on within the community and to help ensure he is doing his part to make this community the best it can be.
