16 Jun Auto Maintenance: Starter Replacement
Starter Replacement is something that needs to be corrected immediately otherwise you will be stranded. Without a starter your vehicle will not start. Your starter forces the crank on your motor to turn with brute force while fuel is being sprayed into the chamber and spark from the plugs igniting it.
This is an issue that needs to be fixed before it becomes a problem. Every time you come in for an oil change, we hook up a scanner that automatically tests your battery, alternator and starter for proper operation.
HOW IS A STARTER REPLACEMENT DONE?
Replacing a starter is as easy as it is to gain access to it for removal. Remove a few bolts and replace with new and recheck.
WHEN DO I NEED TO REPLACE MY STARTER?
When it tests bad with a scanner. A bad starter, alternator or battery will have the same symptoms. Proper diagnosis will determine if the starter needs to be replaced or if the other components need replacement. Typical first symptoms of a starter beginning to fail is a slight hesitation when starting the vehicle or slow cranking.
